Sardinia keen on farm projects with Belarus

MINSK, 30 March (BelTA)

Sardinia is interested in implementation of agricultural projects with Belarus, President of the autonomous region Mr. Ugo Cappellacci told media.

In his words, the intention to develop cooperation with Belarus has been voiced by nearly 20 Italian companies. Projects might comprise the organization of joint companies and a transfer of technologies and assembly factories to Belarus. Sardinia has a rich experience in agricultural development and is ready to share it.

"Belarus is an interesting region for us, especially taking into account its membership in the Customs Union which makes a huge market and provides great opportunities," the Italian official said. Sardinia is an island which should be open to the maximum and use every opportunity to develop cooperation with other states in order to keep its economy vibrant and competitive.

Mr. Ugo Cappellacci noted that the relations between Sardinia and Belarus were built long time ago and are based on deep human solidarity. This friendship has its faces, fates and history.

Minsk Oblast Governor Boris Batura noted, in turn, that Italian investments have already reached Minsk Oblast. Italy partook in the creation of a company engaged in the engineering design for dairies. Italy also plans to invest in the construction of three pig-breeding complexes as well as in the leather-dressing industry.

Minsk Oblast and the autonomous region of Sardinia signed an agreement on cooperation to promote relations in agriculture, education, culture, and tourism.
